Applying Contact Lenses

Contact lenses vary in materials, design and application.

Contact lenses are applied by the Optometrist or the Optician.

In order for a contact lens to fit correctly on the cornea of the eye, special measurements need to be made:

• corneal curvature with an ophthalmometer
• corneal diameter
• pupil diameter
• the quality and quantity of tears

In order to maintain the corneal metabolism and for the patient to feel extremely comfortable when wearing contact lenses, both proper centering of the lens and impeccable mobility are necessary.
