Macular Degeneration Test – Amsler Grid

Do you suspect that you have a problem in the macula or optic nerve?

Do you have a family history of macular degeneration or glaucoma;

Do the Amsler test yourself and if you detect any disturbances in your central vision, perform an eye examination immediately. Early diagnosis helps to cope with the disease more effectively.

Instructions for proper use of the Amsler test:
1. If you wear glasses to read, wear them.
2. Move closer to a distance of 40 centimeters from the computer screen.
3. Cover your left eye with your left hand and with your right eye fix your gaze on the white dot in the center of the grid and pay attention:

• If any of the horizontal and vertical lines look wavy or intermittent.
• If there are areas that appear blurry, darker or missing.
• If the four corners of the table look good.
• Repeat the procedure with your left eye with the right one closed.

If even one of the above points is found positive, it is pathological and needs medical investigation.
